Photoshop made the black look strange in a few of the pictures.. almost rusty. Anyway... that's what I get for photoshopping on my phone. I have it sighted in & ready to roll. It weighs in at 9.2 lbs, not bad considering a 16" barrel, scope, and VERY heavy scope mount. Recoil was as close to a .22 as you can get without actually shooting a .22 -- it's fantastic.

Ergonomics are fine. The handguard is comfortable, but I went ahead and threw the angle grip on there for extra comfort. The battle ax stock is.... well.... it's ugly. I don't particularly like the aesthetics of it, but I'll be doggoned if it isn't the most comfortable stock i've ever used. It's solid, has a functional cheek weld, and comfortable. Trigger is fantastic, considering that it's completely stock. I will not be swapping it out.

I have to give TheAnnoyedMan a shout out for indirectly pushing me toward Burris Optics. Guys, I can't tell you how satisfied I am with this 1-4x scope. This is some quality glass for a very, very reasonable price. Burris MTAC & the PEPR QD mount ran me a shade under $500. You can't beat that with a stick. Clear glass, the reticle is illuminated, and the eye relief is somewhere in the neighborhood of 4 inches. Look at the picture--look how far forward the scope is mounted, beyond the back up sight. It's incredibly fast. I was hesitant at first about going with a magnified optic, but I need this rifle to be able to cover HD as well as distance. I can use the scope indoors at the lowest level, and it's as quick as a holographic is.

No failures of any kind (feed/eject) during break in. Ran like a top. I'm extremely happy.

I didn't know that Troy made a rifle, but I'm glad I found it. I don't know if they plan on pushing further to produce other rifles, but they definitely did a great job with this one. There was some type of hang-up with Dicks Sporting Goods, the original distributor of the Troy Carbine, and they are exceptionally difficult to find new. I happend upon this one on TexasGunTrader, and jumped on it. The price would have been reasonable 6 months ago, much less today. I also got 7 magazines and 500 rounds of Tula. The best part? The rifle was NIB, Never fired.

Troy makes good products. My AR10, which you have seen, has a Troy Battle Rail on it. And Troy's BUIS are pretty decent.

Yeah, the AR10 you have is fantastic!

These BUIS are built into the rail, which I'm not particularly fond of-- I would have rather have them off at a 45 degree angle. In any case, they co-witness through the Burris scope at 1x, so I won't complain about it.

OTH, you've got a quick release scope mount, so even if the scope was too damaged to look through, you could still dismount it quickly and get the rifle back online. Do you still have a black reticle if the battery goes down?

Glad you picked one up, a I sold mine, ended up buying a BCM instead. Those Troy's were a good value at the retail price of $1100, and they are rumored (even before the Dick's fiasco) to be wanting them priced around $1400-1500 as the retail price point after they were established in the market.

Adding a $250 rail, $120 stock, $30 pistol grip, and $100 rear sight from the factory certainly goes a long way to getting to that price point, along with the apparent quality of the gun itself.

I liked the rail enough to buy the FDE version to throw on one of my guns, its very comfortable.

You may want to try the "Squid Grips", they work great on the rail. I didnt really like the AFG on the gun after trying these.

TAM-- The reticle is etched, so there is always a black reticle when the ilum is off.

El Chupo-- I thought about the squid grips, but I specifically purchased this rifle to run the angled grip. By not using squid grips, i will be more likely to run the angled grip in a 3-gun technique rather than going back to my old ways of bunching my hand up on the rail in front of the magazine well.

I am not sure what the "3 gun technique" is (I think we are talking about the same thing), but I have found, after much use with an AFG on a couple guns, that (for me) the smaller tube hand guards are a bit more comfortable with a grip similar to the one below. I really liked the Alpha rail, but found the squids a bit easier on the hand when not wearing gloves. I hear the Vtac version used in the pic below does not have the problem.

The AFG is nice to have in some situations, and I hope you enjoy yours, especially if it helps with the grip you want to use shooting!
