New Little Family Jewel

I read a post about a handed down Savage 99 and thought about a little Ruger Super Single Six I just purchased on GunBroker. I had one that I bought in 1965. (actually my 21 year old brother put it on layaway at Kmart for me). It was stolen in 1994. It had one notch on the grip, which, had LOTS of meaning to me. (Another story for another time, but the notch was for me.)
It was my favorite fun gun and I carried it in a Black Sheep holster and a cartridge belt I made in leather shop. I missed it a lot and immediately wanted this pistol when I saw it. It's even better than the seller described without even a turn ring on either cylinder. I found a couple of Ruger Holsters on a charity auction right after I bought it. My middle daughter and my youngest daughter will be fighting over it when I'm gone

, but for now I intend to add a little "heritage" to it, but no notches.

Heres a couple of pics.

Nice little gun. My wife likes pistols like this and some older ones.

This one was made in 1967.

Those are great! I want one as well.
Here's a request for the story behind the notch... I'll keep my eyes open in the off topic section!

I may post it in Never Again. If I do I'll link it here too. BTW do you have a SA?

I love single actions. They're just so fun to shoot.
They go really well with a nice lever gun in the same caliber.

Yes they are and yes they do. I have a Marlin 39 Mountie from the same era that I carried with my Super Single Six. I have a 1967 .357 Blackhawk that has a history. It was stolen the same time as my SS-Six. I got it back about three years later. It was used in a hold-up and the guy was caught red handed. It has a ding on the barrel where it must have hit the ground when he decided you can't out shoot the LEO's with a cowboy pistol. Fortunately I never had to put a notch on it!

Very nice. Check Ruger's site as there is a recall on that gun. Be safe.

Thanks. I'm aware of the recall. Ruger changed their SA pistol design to prevent discharge of a round under the hammer beginning in 1973 and offered and still offers a free modification to prevent it on their model older pistols. The unmodified older models actually demand a higher price than the those with the change and are sought after.
