A friend of mine gave me a Type 38 Arisaka this past weekend. It's pretty cool. Course, can't find any ammo for that thing, either.

It looks like our 1903 Springfield, but I understand it is longer than the 1903 and has a much lower powered round than the 30.06.

I have wanted one for a long time, but I don't know if I would trust shooting one.

My dad had a really nice 6.5mm Type 38 carbine back in the '80s. It seemed pretty accurate, though I couldn't say exactly how accurate. I know he got ammo made by Norma; it was soft-points, and he even took a couple of deer with it. I wish I had it now, it still had the chrysanthemum on it and all matching serial numbers. I have one of those; I haven't fired it, but never put much effort into finding ammo... It's probably more available than .30-06 right now.
