Academy In Arlington

Just thought I would share my outing today. Took a trip with my wife over to Arlington today. I seen that the Academy had moved across the street and opened a larger store. So, I took my scooter and took a trip. Went to the gun section and was handling one of the new Taurus M410. The young man behind the counter took the trigger lock off and we were talking about what 410 shells would fit. I could not believe it, the young man went and got a box of 3" shells and attempted to LOAD the gun.

I will say this the 3" does not fit! This was the first time for me. Looked at it a little longer, he put the lock back on, put it back in the case and we talked a little further about the difference between the 45LC load and the 410 buckshot load.

New for 2007 are a lightweight model, which it appears still takes the 2 1/2" shells and a longer model that WILL acccept the 3".

Not sure I understand. Are you expressing shock/surprise that he tried to load the 3" shells? What better way to confirm whether or not they'd fit?
So long as safe gun handling rules were observed, I don't see a problem.

i go to that academy all the time. even when it was at the old location, i never had any issues, and i spend most of my time right around the gun counter there. i just bought a GPS from them, and the guy let me play with 3 or 4 of them before i made up my mind. i couldn't get that any where else.

I was VERY SHOCKED because everytime I have been in there they will not even revove the trigger lock. I was surprised he took the lock off and tried to load the gun in the store. He handed me the gun so I could see it did not fit and the whole time a box of 45LC setting on the counter opened. I don't think it is good policy to hand a man unknown a loaded gun in a store.

Agreed, in general. You must look like a real trustworthy type.
