Did not want to hijack the above thread more than I already have. I have know countless people looking for the Shield. I am fortunate enough to have the Shield as well as the Compact. I believe that is the perfect life. :txflag: BUT, if you can only have one which would you choose and why?

I voted for the Compact, but only because I already own a single-stack micro 9mm.....a Kahr PM9. But if I didn't own the Kahr, I would probably choose the Shield, as I already have two compact .45s, and I don't really need a compact 9mm......I just want one.

LOVE my compact, but was looking for the "yes" option. Would love to find a single stack 9 to carry in the place of my .380 when it isn't practical to carry my 9C.

I usually carry a M&Pc and love it. If you want or need a slimmer gun than the Shield is great, but it will not fit in your pocket and in my opinion it is too big for a BUG. There are smaller, lighter single stack 9mm out there.

Just one man's opinion.

You are right it definitely to small for a pocket pistol. When I first heard of the Shield that is what I thought I would use it for. Way to large for the pocket. I believe the PM 9 fits the pocket, but to heavy in my opinion.

I like the "thinness" of the Shield. It is one I can carry IWB comfortable.

I voted for the unicorn. That's what I call the shield. I shot one once when they first came out and haven't seen one in a gun store since. Only reason I voted shield is because the small backstrap on the compact is still to big for my wife's tiny hands. Other then that I don't think it would matter to 95% of the people carrying. Both are still hip carry and both are easily concealed with right shirt and holster.

If I could ever find a 9mm shield for a decent price my wife would prefer it over her third gen Smith 908s. Surprisingly even though the 908 is about 6 ounces heavier it is still easier for her to shoot the shield because the smaller grip and the shorter trigger distance make the difference.

Edit: of course nothing beats her new night stand gun. 5inch 9mm 1911. She loves to shoot it all day! I actually have to tell her to switch to the 22 at the range because she is using to much 9mm. "rlol"

My wife and I looked at both and purchased the Shield. The Compact and the Shield are actually pretty close but the Shield is thinner and because the whole purpose of the weapon is to be easy to carry and conceal, we figured we would save the size and go Shield. The last time I was at the range, a buddy let me shoot his 9mm M&P pro series C.O.R.E which was really neat. The M&P line up is pretty sweet. I have a full-size on my wish list.

I had a Shield. But decided to go with the compact because of capacity. I would have kept the Shield if I could have found more mags for it but they are about as rare as the gun itself. I really liked the Shield, it was a sweet little shooting gun and so much more concealable than the compact. :thumbs2:

Tom I think I bought my first Shield from you down in Athens for my wife. It was the first one I had. I sold it and said I would never sale another one. It took me along time to find another one.

I have not had any problems finding magazines for my Shield. I found magazines for my Compact at Ray's Hardware in Dallas.

I have the compact. Never seen a shield in real life. Love my compact. I could use some full size extra mags!

I really like the shield. Shoots well, points well for me, grip fits, and recoil is very easy for a gun it's size. Conceals nicely. Not a pocket gun, but that's ok with me. I am not a fan of really tiny guns. Only thing I didn't care for was the stock sights. Easy enough to fix that. :thumbs2:

Yes, Carl, I sold mine to you and now wish I had another one. If I ever do find one again and buy it, like you, I won't sell it. There are occasions that it is just the perfect one to have for certain situations.

If I'm going to carry a double stack pistol, then I carry my full sized M&P. If a double stack is too thick/big/chunky, then I go to a thin single stack instead. In my case, it's a Walther PPS; but my girlfriend just took possession of her new unicorn! (Shield) :clapping:
