Good afternoon, I'm Paul R. Beane and I'm your right wing gun nut.
It is the responsible gun owners of today that is being blamed for all the shootings. Obama calls us the right wing gun nuts, clinging to our guns and to our religion.
But lets take a little closer look. The Fort Hood shooter, a Muslim, and a registered Democrat. The Virginia Tech shooter, he wrote hate mail to George Bush and his staff and was a registered Democrat. Aurora Colorado shooter, he was a staff worker on the Obama campaign and took part in Occupy Wall Street. He was a progressive liberal and guess what? A registered Democrat. The Newtown, Conn shooter hated Christians and was a registered Democrat. The Columbine high school shooters were too young to vote, but both of their families were progressive liberals and registered Democrats.
And one more thing, not a single one of these killers were members of the National Rifle Association. So I have got it figured out how to make this country much safer; leave the guns alone and lock up all the Democrats.

Uh, we don't register party affiliation in Texas, so Nidal Malik Hasan couldn't be a "registered democrat".
Seung-Hui Cho was a Korean immigrant, neither he nor his parents are/were citizens so he couldn't register to vote.
Both the prior had been residents in Va, which doesn't register party affiliation anyway, so no "registered anything" just like Texas.
James Holmes wasn't registered to vote, Breitbart retracted, they had the wrong guy.
There is no record of Adam Lanza registering to vote, his mom Nancy, was a Republican.
Jared Loughner was/is a registered Independent.
Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, to young to register, there are no records available to establish how their parents voted.

So, if he was wrong on 2 out of 4 states not requiring declarations of party affiliation, How could he be trusted to have examined the private and confidential membership rolls of the NRA to determine that none of the people in question had been members? Apparently some of you hold him to a lower standard. Sad.

Uh, he was Military and probably a non-resident.

We may not have official party registration here in Texas, but I know this: when I vote in the GOP primaries, I receive junk mail from the GOP. The one time I voted in the Democratic primaries, I quit getting GOP stuff and started getting Dem stuff. Someone is keeping track of something.....

Let's review. The purpose of declaring party affiliation is to maintain closed primaries in which only registered voters claiming affiliation can vote in party primaries. Texas does not pose this restriction, and therefore permits anyone to vote in any primary they choose. If the parties wanted to use this to their advantage in an organized manner it could have the effect of selecting the worst possible candidates in each party. Well, maybe it IS working this way, huh? Anyway, based on registration it is not possible to define affiliation, only which primary the voter participated in, and that is not an indication of anything.

Well, I still like the idea of locking up all the Democrats. And maybe half the Republicans, too.

My final thoughts here: If someone asks me I will tell them that I am a Democrat. Then I usually have to amend it to say a moderate Democrat because my Republican acquaintances see everything in black and white. Pun intended. Now the question is who is the smarter group of campaigners. During election season, about once a week I get this form to fill out from the RNC, and at the end they want me to donate a couple hundred. I generally take several minutes to thoughtfully fill out the form to my liking and mail it back in their Business Reply envelope. That has to cost them something. About three times a day I get emails, sent at essentially no cost, asking me unabashedly to donate $4 or more to the DNC. I can use my debit card or PayPal or green stamps. They will take it any way I can send it. No stupid questionnaire that nobody is going to read. The RNC is just looking at the people who voted in their primary. Perhaps they didn't vote there for the reasons the RNC imagines. The DNC is mass emailing everyone, including the 47% with email access, and seeing what sticks. And the Democrats are stupid? Hummm.

So what you guys are saying is you are not all democrats and the pure emotional appeal of this idea has not transferred straight to your convictions without one iota of examination?

I am not sure that is right because If you are registerd republican you cannot vote in demoncrat primaries.

But I live in Hidalgo County (northrn mexico) and I dont think a repub has one anything here since Lincoln

Well, I think Democrats are stupid because they don't think $16 trillion in debt is a problem and running trillion dollar plus annual deficits is no big deal. That seems pretty stupid to me. If it doesn't to you, you probably vote for Democrats.
