An unsatisfactory virtual day in NH

One of the auction houses I regularly audit, Amoskeag's in Manchester hammered 842 lots today. Some prices:
Colt auto pistols, Mustang, .380 Gov't, 1903, 1908, 1911, all well over auction estimates, I mean a looked like it took a tour through a cement mixer, M1911A1 Korean War arsenal rebuild for $800, a 98% '17 M1911 $7500.
Other semi auto pistols were flat or depressed, none managing much more than pre auction low estimates, with the exception of PPK's which were well over estimates.
Military C&R still doing well, A303's, all over estimate, a '42 Raritan w/ RA mark, as arsenal rebuilt, $1000. M1's $700 up, 2 IH made, one at $1200 the other $1300. UK Birmingham proved 3/42 production, Springer kit, though w/Win. trigger 90% $850. M1 carbines, Rock-Ola 98% $850, National Postal Meter "near perfect" $650.
Modern Sporting Rifles; Bushy, good shape, $600. Olympic 5.56 PCR(ARMS top rail, fore end, vert. grip, flip ups) $650. PCR in .45acp $750. DPMS 5.56 optics ready, bull barrel, low profile block, $550. A couple of WASR-10s were withdrawn after the first one, NIB, went for $550. FNH FNAR, LNIB $800. Mini 30 bucked the trend $200 over estimate at $1100.
Beer Budget select fire; the blush is off the rose on lesser quality sub guns. Texas' own M10A1 swing stock, $2800. M11A1 snap on stock, $2500. Stemple 76/45(think crappy Swedish K copy) $3750. H&R Reising 50 $4500.
Intermediates are a different story; Bushy J-15 95% $13,000. Colt M16A1 $19,000.
Which leads to my unsatisfactory day. During the much lamented panic buying of modern sporting rifles, there was an equaled panicked selling(to buy said msr) of crazy Uncle Joe's favorite home defense weapon, the venerable double gun.
One could pick and chose a variety of quality American, Italian, Basque, heck, even 2nd tier English gun makers offerings at very, very good prices. No longer, common sense seems to have returned. No one wants to sell a Powell, Fox, Richards, Rizzini, Grulla, etc, for 50% of book to buy an tremendously overpriced Mforgery or cheap AK clone. Weep for me fellows, the good times are gone.
