On Friday, May 17, fifty-four Colorado Sheriffs filed a civil rights lawsuit in Federal District Court in Denver, against two anti-gun bills passed by the Colorado legislature in March.

Excellent! And Eugene Volokh, unlike Barack Hussein Obama, Esq, actually IS a
Professor of Law (and not a
Lecturer), and he is representing the plaintiffs in this case. He will be the opposition's worst nightmare. His biography on the UCLA website (
http://www2.law.ucla.edu/volokh/) says:
Volokh worked for 12 years as a computer programmer, and is still partner in a small software company which sells HP 3000 software that he wrote. He graduated from UCLA with a bull in math-computer science at age 15, and has written many articles on computer software. Volokh was born in the USSR; his family emigrated to the U.S. when he was seven years old.
In other words, he is Sheldon Cooper with a law degree and the ruthlessness of a russian mafioso...... and they are going to be hating life. I almost feel bad for them.

Who is Sheldon Cooper?
This fellow has an impressive biography, but it doesn't say he has actually won any cases or even handled any although he has authored a great many briefs, an important task of course.
He may be pretty tough in litigation. A judge I appeared before years ago started off his ruling by saying that in college he had been a wrestler. I was sitting there thinking, "Dear God! Where is this going?" He continued by saying that he learned that it was harder to wrestle someone who didn't know hot to wrestle than someone who did know how to wrestle. My opponent was a barber/real estate salesman who had sued a title company in pro per, completely unacquainted with legal procedures.
This fellow may be an excellent teacher of wrestling without having ever had to wrestle himself.

Great arguments in the video. Mrsjmra's favorite quote, "I cannot enforce what is unenforceable".

Sheldon Cooper is a character in a TV show.
And what does "in pro per" mean?
My high school wrestling coach started off his first season by announcing that wrestling was not his sport, he had been assigned the job, but he would try hard if we did. I did not learn much about wrestling, but my opinion about school breeding incompetent administrators and teachers was confirmed once again

This suit is being funded in part by the NRA Civil Rights Defense Fund. David Kopel is the lead counsel for the sheriffs and other attorneys for different Plaintiffs. I didn't see Eugene Volokh on the Complaint.
Chas.

The confusion about who the lawyer is comes from the posting on volokh.com that bylines David Kopel. IE, Kopel, not Volokh, is claiming to represent the Colorado Sheriffs.
Kopel's site, davekopel.org, is filled with many interesting items including a link to the complaint.

Charles, you're right. I plead being up all night coughing. It's Volokh's blog, but Kopel wrote the post. He is one of the writers on this blog. I didn't see his byline at the top. That said, I'm not sure that Kopel would be any easier on them than Volokh.
