Southlake Town Center Shooting

This is not the part of town were one would expect a shooting.
Updated at 8:58 p.m.: One of the two men in the SUV was wearing a mask, witnesses told police.
Brianna Norwood, 17, said her car was parked next to the victim’s, and she won’t be able to get to it until at least Thursday. She and her two friends had dropped off shopping bags in the car less than a minute before shots rang out.

Norwood said she and her friends didn’t see the shooting because they were walking to Mi Cocina. They didn’t believe they were gunshots at first.

No one is immune from violence, no matter what color your skin or how much cash in your pocket. Guess all those Keller-ites, who think people west of the tracks are going to rape and pillage their children, will now have to reconsider their daily treks to Talbots and Corner Bakery.

Stay Calm, and Carry On.

Exactly what I thought when I saw the title...

Usually the only reason I go to the Southlake town center is the Harkin's theater, which allows carry. So I stay armed.

:iagree: Very, very true. As TBM said, it knows no bounds or color.

My money is on a gang hit. Just because it happened in Southlake doesn't mean the victim or suspect are from there. Wife Cheating on husband, crime of passion, rage, etc. type thing I would not expect the suspect to be wearing a ski mask.

Wife was sitting next to him an nothing about her being hit, so my bet is on fast divorce/cheating wife.

Two shooters leave the scene, one wearing a ski mask. Apparently, the other doesn't care much about being identified.....

Who has a ski mask in Ft. Worth, this time of year? He probably has it packed away for the season.

Wife was sitting next to him. Was he cheating with someone else's wife/SO?

Drug dealers? Those guys live wherever they want. A number of my about to be former neighbors are reputed to be in the South American agricultural products import business.

My first thought was drugs. . . that industry cuts across all segments of our society, and this is as targeted as you can get. Somebody was trying to send a message. They've now said the victim had "ties to Plano".

Southlake Town Square is one of our favorite places to go for a lot of reasons, but you can't let your awareness and vigilance down anywhere. Part of its success is that it draws visitors from all over, and the reputation of the area is likely to attract unscrupulous types.

Should we ban wearing ski masks in Texas? I would bet money that there is a higher percentage of criminals that wear them than law abiding citizens.

This is like going to the race track. The bettors here have established "Drug Deal" and "Cheating Wife" as the co-favorites, with "Gang Hit" and "Idiots" a distant third and fourth in the betting. We need some more entrants to really make it interesting though. But, alas, as author Damon Runyon famously wrote, "All Horse Players Die Broke."
