FedEx 30.06 Sign

I had to pick up a couple handguns shipped from our wholesaler at the local FedEx station on Mark IV Parkway in Fort Wort. I missed the business delivery today when we were out running errands.

I had to do the walk of shame from their entrance back to my car so I could disarm. When I went in, I was asked by the lady why I was taking a picture of the 30.06 sign. I said so I can let all the criminals know to stay away from FedEx because they don't allow guns. She said excitedly that FedEx does not allow guns of any type on their properties to keep everyone safe. I said, ohh, I see and you really think the criminals that walk in here are going to respect that sign before they pull out their illegal gun. She looked at me puzzled as she didn't comprehend what I was saying. Once I get my package of concealed guns, I asked her if they don't allow guns of any kind, how is it that I have two of them in this FedEx box. She looked at me puzzled again and said she didn't know. She told me to have a nice day and I told her to try and stay safe. Guess I won't pick up from there anymore and just let them redeliver.
I posted it on texas3006. You think it's still valid because it is written in all CAPS.
Edited to add - I know the sign is valid. The big grin is there because I am being silly about it all being in ALL CAPS AND SCREAMING AT ME!

Without getting out the regulations and going over it word for word, I'd say it looks pretty darn valid to me.

Just so you know, UPS also posts 30.06 at their pickup locations.

Thanks Crossfire, I did not know. One more reason to make them deliver instead of me wasting my gas to go pick up packages.

The FedEx in Irving has a 30.06 sign that is half the size of a billboard. I can't stand going to that place.

I get it, that its the right of these companies to do business their way and exclude us. The really sad part that i cannot comprehend, is that the woman working there somehow believed she was safer with the 30.06 sign. What the OP said to her did not even register or compute with her. Seriously, is logic and thought progression really that tough? For the record, my last question was rhetorical.

Even if it is rhetorical, I still wanna answer....
YES for some people it is. I see it all the time.

Using all caps makes satisfying the letter size requirement easier. With mixed case, a 1" tall capital "P" would be followed by a 1/2" tall lowercase "u", which would technically not meet the requirement.
I like how they include the quotation marks.

it drives me nuts that they post it, but happily take our money & mandate you ship next day air priority when shipping a handgun... so, they can't even trust their own employes not to steal your stuff but they assume a sign will prevent all outside criminals from hitting them.

Well it could be a business decision. If they can reduce the amount of human traffic at the location they can reduce open hours which reduces wages and benefits and everything else. Remember, the word of personal service being king is not what is was. The self sufficient internet and automation is everything now...

with this. Personal service went down the big dumper a long time ago.

With no frame of reference in the photo, I must ask. Were the letters in fact one inch tall as required for a valid 30.06?

I was just going to add that. I had occasion once to ship a handgun back to S&W for repair, and they would not accept it at the local walk-in UPS store (next door to the Academy here in Grapevine). I was told that they could not accept firearms for shipment at the store, and that i had to go to the UPS depot over at DFW airport. So I drove over there, started toward the door, then had to do the same walk of shame back to my car. The lady behind the counter there made me open the box and verify that it was unloaded before she would let me seal it back up and put the shipping label on it. In fact, she wouldn't even touch the box after it was sealed. She told me to "put it over there" on the counter. When I asked her if she wasn't going to take the box and put it behind the counter (where I figured it had less chance of being stolen), she told me that somebody would be along shortly to pick it up. I had virtually the identical conversation with her that RX8er had with the other lady:
Me: "Do you realize that the sign outside your door in no way keeps someone who is carrying a gun illegally from entering with it? They're not even breaking any extra law by coming in here that they aren't already breaking by walking around without a license to carry."
Her: "They put the sign up in the interest of everyone's safety."
Me: "So what you're saying is that:
- it is safer for you if a criminal walks in here armed, so long as I am not;
- you think that this sign which ONLY applies to the law-abiding will keep an armed criminal from entering here;
- you think it is safer that I am not armed in here because you believe....what?.....that I'm going to suddenly start a rootin' and a tootin' and a shootin' just because I can?
Her: "Sir, they just want everyone to be safe."
Me: "So you think that if a criminal walks in here with a gun, I'll be safer because as a law-abiding person I had to leave mine in the car?"
She just looked at me and blinked. I said, "I didn't think so," and walked out.

Yes, they are just a little over 1 inch.
