APynckel is tweeting strong, refuting the anti-gun comments.

Over. The pro-gun folks made the same points they always do. The anti-gun folks refused to listen and presented their usual evasions.
John Woods was spouting statistics about suicide in the IDF that while true, had absolutely nothing to do with the how's and the why's of the problem and the reduction in suicides that the IDF achieved.

Watched until 5 after 7 when my wife cued up a previously taped show that I wanted to watch, but by that time everyone had flown their flags and shown their cards and there didn't seem to be much left to say.

The NAACP rep was what my grandpappy used to call "mealy mouthed", he talked fast, mumbled, mispronounced words, and made confusing reiterations, all in all just flat hard to understand.

The VA Tech guy made unsupportable statements declared as fact, and the station did not ask my follow up questions of him, which would have cast him in a pretty poor light, I thought.

The brady bunch rep was obviously a brady bunch rep and only there to speechify and not discuss, and kept dodging direct questions with such answers as "But it's is more important . . ."

The gun store owner held his own, and so did "Sam" (except he tended to ramble a bit)

I didn't get much of an impression from the others, but I guess four out of six ain't too bad.

All in all it looked like nobody's minds got changed and my take away was that we will see more pushes for "universal background checks" before too long, and if and when they pass and prove to be unworkable, an effort will be made at universal registration.
