Trigger For Colt 6920 Magpul Different?

or is it the same as your basic 6920?

Plus, since I'm still much a noob about AR's, I'd like to know if the Magpul fore end 6920 edition accommodate lights and other accessories where the basic 6920 fore end won't?

Plus, I'm thinking of putting a light on the rifle thus de-necessitating an illuminated/magnified scope.

Of course, I've no idea what I'm talking about...

Thoughts?

The magpul edition is all cosmetic, you typically get a Magpul stock, sight, pistol grip, mag(s), handguard, and vertical grip. The trigger will be a pretty standard mil spec job with a 6-7 lb pull. It's a nice gun for your first one, I was between it and the smith and wesson one but the smith came with a quad rail and I liked that better. I later added a magpul angled grip, pistol grip, and CTr stock.

Yup. Just a 6920 with magpul plastic.

There are several option for mounting a light to the Colt LE6920 with the fixed A2 sight base/tower and GI hand guards.
I use a TMC 1 from Bravo Company:
http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/TMC-1-LI ... c100f0.htm
Pro-Mag makes 1913 rail sections that will attach to the hand guards and allow for the use of most of the mounts available for lights.
Midwest Industries makes a double 1913 rail section that locks together over your A2 sight tower, again allowing the use of rail mounts for lights.
If you are going with Magpul hand guards, they make the "Scout Mount" that attaches to the hand guards for an offset light mounting rail.

You can buy a rail section to mount directly to the MagPul MOE Handguard

Alternatively, you can buy a mounting kit to mount a light directly to the MOE Handguard

The 6920 is made by Colt on the same pattern as AR15s made by everybody. It's like with mass-produced 1911A1s....the parts from one manufacturer should fit into the gun made by any other manufacturer and vice-versa. So a furniture set made by Magpul and a lower receiver parts kit made by DPMS, and a honed two-stage Rock River Arms match trigger, and a bolt carrier group made by Daniel Defense, and a barrel made by Shilen Rifles, Inc., will all fit on your Colt 6920. Of course, it is then no longer a Colt 6920, it is a shade-tree home-built like the rest of us own.

I think the primary value of having a 6920 is that Colt's name on the receiver uppers/lowers and internal parts guarantees a certain degree of quality and adherence to mil-specs, and you just know that it is rugged and flat out works. As long as you properly maintain it, you'll never have any reason to doubt it. Magpul furniture is different AND better than standard M4 furniture......at least to my tastes, but others may prefer the old-school stuff, and that's just fine. I've never had any issue with any of the DPMS lower receiver parts in any of the carbines I or my son (or both of us together) have built. My son "tuned" the DPMS trigger and hammer springs on my carbine, and it is actually pretty good, BUT... my AR10 and one of his AR varmint rifles have the Rock River 2 stage trigger, and it is a superior trigger if match accuracy is your game, and I don't know that you give anything away to a single stage trigger in a battle rifle (M1As come with 2 stage triggers). Anything made by Daniel Defense is probably on the same order of quality as anything made by Colt, and so having one of their BCGs wouldn't be considered either an upgrade or a downgrade. A Shilen target barrel will outclass a Colt M4 barrel every single time.......again, if match accuracy is your game.....if it isn't, then don't bother.

The point of all this is that you might be overthinking all of this is all you want is a solid and reliable carbine. If that's the case, then the 6920 is about as good as it gets.

Regarding the addition of a light, yes, the Magpul forend can be modified to accept a light: http://store.magpul.com/product/MAG402/46.

A quad rail forend will obviate the need for that particular upgrade, but the MOE forend is easier on the hands and on anything the carbine is likely to bump up against.

If you really want to make your head spin, start debating free float rails...

But the triggers are the same. I'm a big DD fan when it comes to rails.

TAM,

Thanks!

Undoubtedly, I'm once again over thinking - my nature.

Plus, at one time I spent hundreds of millions of other peoples money in order to keep the wheels rolling...as in corporate oil/gas material/services purchasing.

So now, I still look at every molecule when it comes to buying almost anything, except a double meat, double cheese Whataburger...

Strange, considering there was a time I was entertained by moguls and ate at the finest restaurants - but, I'd been more impressed by those wishing to curry my favor if we'd eaten at Whataburger.

You can take the peasant out of the slums, and well, you know the rest...
