ETW holster arrived today

not as well made as an Adams Leather, but fits well, rides well, and is comfortable....well worth the money, $45 shipped

Also, bought a High Noon Split Decision High Ride Tuckable, and it'll work in a pinch if I have to tuck my shirt tail.

Powder River extended safety, CT laser (haters save your breath)

Polished the trigger/action pieces when I installed the safety, trigger is perfect for carry, still accurate out to 50 yards.

The custom Colt 1911 is in the nightstand, the XDs is on my hip.

compact, accurate, and I have confidence in my ability to shoot it

Doc... that looks sweet. I like the Powder River grip safety. Appears more work done on the grips than you describe. Let's get out to OGC to shoot yours against my stock XDs. Weather looks great for Friday. I got plenty of .45ACP on hand. PM me... Dave

I guess not everyone needs the reliability of a Glock

I notice you're using the extended 7-round magazine. Is that because you need the extra real estate to get a good / extra good grip on the gun (like I do with my paws) or just for the extra two rounds, or both?

I'm thinkin' the XDs in .45 is going to be my next purchase, now that the shotgun is taken care of. Yours gives me more ideas.

Glad to see the holster post. I picked up my XDs45 Saturday morning as soon as the doors opened at the gun show.

As soon as I get a couple hundred rounds or so through it, I will be looking for IWB holster. A whole lot less available than I would have thought it seems.

BTW, how do cast boolits do in the XDs. I haven't tried any yet, and won't until I put at least 50 rounds of factory hardball through it to give it a chance to break early, if it's going to break. I did step out back Saturday afternoon and put about 20 rounds through, just to see for myself what it felt like. Sure enough, it was just as controllable as the CM9 I sold last Thursday.

Reliable Shmiable. I actually looked at buying the G36 back when I bought my CW45—which eventually went in trade to acquire my XDS. Price difference between the CW45 and G36 notwithstanding, I just couldn't reconcile myself to the Glock's grip shape and angle and I ended up buying the Kahr. I love my XDS. Fits my hand perfectly and points naturally.....and it is T.I.N.Y. for a .45 and it shoots well.

Yes....I'm fighting the temptation to become a bit of a Springfield fanboy, but it is difficult going, and frankly, it's a losing battle.

i did love my xds 45 I had (and even qualified for the CHL with it) the only thing I didn't like was round count and I wasn't able to carry an extended mag. Now that the xds in 9 is out with 7+1 it will most likely be my next purchase.

When I finally broke down and decided to shoop around with the thought of considering to buy a plastic gun, Glocks had the lion's share of the market. I had tried several Glocks shooting IDPA and they were uncomfortable in my hand, so they were eliminated from consideration right out of the gate.

And then I discovered the HS2000 which, by the time I finally made the decision to actually consider buying something in plastic, and in other than .45ACP, became the XD9. Very comfortable in my hand, which I can't say for any Glock.

I bought one, and did pretty well at IDPA with it, and then my wife tried it for her CHL requal, and now it is hers.

One of these days an XDs in .45ACP will join the family, as soon as I have procrastinated long enough.

I carry OWB, untucked shirt 90% of the time.

The extended mag doesn't print, so I take advantage of the extra capacity and grip surface.

It's been totally reliable with ball, both round nose and semi-wadcutter lead reloads, and coffee can Barnes HP's.

I've tried three holsters so far.
1. factory plastic paddle works great, just extends a bit and the paddle-to-skin surface is rough (easily fixed with a thin piece of leather glued on it).
2. ETW pancake - works well, fits well, well made (but it's not as well made as a $90 Adams Leather), and it's worth the $49 cost.
3. High Noon Split Decision, IWB/OWB - it'll work in a pinch when worn IWB with shirt tail tucked, but the tuck area is pretty shallow. I think it was worth the money for the few times I'll carry IWB.

I stopped carrying my 3" Kimber after I bought my XDs. Much lighter and easier to conceal.

The XDs .45 is a great shooter!

I bought the White Hat IWB holster for mine. They are made in Ft. Worth.
