What to do with my gun safe

Situation: We are moving and I have a 48 gun safe that I brought into my home with the help of 3 buddies. I'm going to call the folks that Canvasbck recommended in another thread because I don't want to move it again
My dilemma is we just started building a home that will be ready in late December. My family of 5 is moving in with my in-laws so we can empty out our current home and stage it for selling. I have a couple of options for my safe and don't like any of them and I am looking for advice.
1. Leave the safe in my current house until we sell, I don't like this option because it is just basically putting off the inevitable.
2. Move the safe into my climate controlled storage unit with the rest of my other furniture, has anyone done this before? I wouldn't want to leave my guns in it,but don't really have a secure spot at the in-laws so some of them, and a lot of ammo need to go with the safe.
3. Put it in the in-laws garage. This would be around 4 months, with the heat of southeast Texas.
Help!

You mean it never gets any cooler around here, even in November/December?
Look at the firearms in Iran and Afghanistan, and the heat they endured. Those guns are a lot tougher than you give them credit for. I vote for the garage, assuming it is secure. It'll cool off by Thanksgiving.

Pretty sure your safe can tolerate that kind of heat
Humidity, on the other hand....I suggest wrapping in plastic and putting some dessicant cans inside the safe to help fight the moisture.

Another vote for the in-laws garage.
Unoccupied house - Asking for trouble (somebody shows up looking for copper and finds lead)
Storage unit - Asking for trouble (you know somebody will see you haul that safe in there)
Caveat: If the in-laws lived on the same street as your current house, I'd leave the safe where it is.

Except wrapping it in plastic will trap moisture. ++1 on desiccant packs inside.

While not perfect, the garage idea seems best. Don't worry about the guns- I keep my safe in a garage like building currently... been there about 4 years with NO ill effects on the contents. I use a goldenrod.
Our home addition is finally in process so I will actually have mine back inside later this year!

Just dessicant and don't worry too much about the temps.

I think it's scheduled to be cooler for a couple of days on January 8th next year. I love Texas.

Thanks for the responses everyone. I'm gonna move it to the garage, and when the house is done I'm going to move it one last time
