Questions about Winchester Model '94

I inherited this rifle from my Grandpa when he passed away. I *think* is was made in 1917 according to the 819XXX serial number. I have a little history with the rifle as it was the first rifle I ever shot a deer with back in the early 80's.

I've not shot it since getting it and putting it in the safe but am interested in shooting it once before possibly building a shadow type display box for it.

Can anyone lead me in the right direction as to estimated value, year made, etc?

Thanks for any insight!

I looked up mine on Winchester's website and called to make sure. They were very receptive and helpful.

As to value, I have no idea.

I would look for a similar model on Gunbroker to see what they are selling for. That would give you a ballpark market value.

I would say it is a 1917. And, caliber will make a difference in the value as the number manufactured in that caliber will determine the rarity.

Here's a couple of auctions that will give you an idea on the gun value. They can vary greatly depending on if original, refinished (WAY less value) etc. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewIt ... =347775180" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
