Jury duty warrant scam

Scams come and go in fads. I don't know why. Anyway, the jury duty warrant scam has been around for a long time. Currently, Harris County officials are warning residents about it.

The scammer calls someone, probably at random, and says that the victim missed jury duty and an arrest warrant has been issued. However, luckily , the victim can "take care of it" by providing his or her driver license number, birth date, social security number, etc.

Then, of course, the scammer steals the victim's identity.

Though members of this forum are too canny to fall for this kind of garbage, it might not be a bad idea to mention it to more gullible relatives or acquaintances. Less-sophisticated elderly people seem to fall victim to these scams.
