I know asking for opinions is a dangerous game, but for anyone who has held, shot, operated or owned one.

What do you think?

Thanks,

Have shot one quite a bit and really like it. The one I shoot has a Trijicon Acog mounted on it and really makes it a nice package. Not a long distance shooter but good out to 250 yards.

I have one and I really like it. I paired it with a leupold. It is a solid, well built rifle that can take a beating. I am not the greatest shot, and the rifle surpasses my ability to shoot it. I have nailed targets at 200 yards with no trouble. It is one of my favorites.

I handled one when they first came out, and liked it. I had set up a pseudo-scout rifle many years ago to check out the concept, and thought it had merit. Other priorities bumped it way down the budget, so getting it had to wait.

If I were to buy a Ruger GSR, it would likely be the "export" version with a somewhat longer stainless barrel. 16.5" is pretty short for a .308. Personal preference.

If I were to change anything on the rifle, I'd also prefer an internal staggered magazine (probably a blind magazine to save weight) giving 4 + 1 capacity instead of the protruding detachable magazine, a stripper clip guide in the rear receiver ring, three flush sling swivel mounts, Ching sling, ... Yeah, I should probably build my own.

One of the forum members has a great deal on one in the Forth Worth area if you are still interested in one. I just wish I could afford it right now!

I just got my scope in a couple of weeks ago and got it set up. Leupold FXII. Itching to get to the range and try it out. But I'm liking it so far.

That's a good lookin' rifle sookandy! I put a Leupold long eye relief 2.5x on mine as well. It gets on target really fast.

I'm late to the thread, but I really like my GSR. I don't think you'll be disappointed if you pick one up.

TAM on the forum has had one for some time, surprised he's not weighed in, but try PM'ing him for his thoughts. He'll be spot on with anything he shares. :thumbs2:

I own a .308 GSR (in left y) and love it. Have never had FTE or problem of any kind. I highly recommend the rife for anyone wanting a god bolt action rifle in a shorter , handier package.

You bumped an almost 3 year old thread but since you did, grabagun.com has these for crazy low prices right now.

This is a gorgeous little rifle.

Considering I still haven't bought one :)

It was a worthy bump! As much as I like the laminate stock, the polymer saves about a pound so I think I will be going that route.
