budget sticky idea?

I have wanted to do something for awhile and time restraints have sort of no idea how to really approach it. Wife has a 500.00 cannon and a 400.00 sony video camera that does 1080. I am mentioning this because I feel like between the too, detailed picture/video reviews can be made. However, I haven't the slightest clue how really to use either. How to edit them once I have done so. Also no clue if this would even be worth my time. So I will ask you guys what you think.

When I first got into the idea of CC I had no idea where to start. Obviously yeah getting the CHL was the obvious first step. However, total cost of everything like holsters, belt, the gun, time to train, etc. This is, and will always be, a broad subject and full of facts and mostly opinions. The one thing that kept me from going about getting a CHL for the longest was thinking I had to spend the money for all the things to get the license. Then add an extra 200 for a belt and holster not including the gun and ammunition. One problem I had was the forum I was apart of and no longer contribute my time to. The people there were from all over and less friendly and not very approachable. I could care less but since this forum is so friendly and generally open, I thought maybe this would be a good idea to start here.

So my idea is to try and get some entry level items out there to help someone get started who may be on a budget like I was. It could range from cheaper holsters or belts etc. I.E. found a "work belt" at walmart that could easily serve as a gun belt for a period of time.

Again this is meant to help people get involved and not think they need a 240.00 Milt Sparks.

Thoughts?

Sounds like a definite idea! I think a series of videos aimed at beginners would be a great idea!

There are literally a hundred different programs that will edit video, many of them free. If you have a Windows machine, you probably already have Windows Movie Maker, which does a fair basic job of editing and adding titles, captions, and producing the final video in several different formats. If you're an Apple user (Ipad or Mac), they have some very good editing tools out there.

Once you've got a basic idea of what you want to say, I'd suggest writing down in the form of a script, and let one or two other folks look at it so they can give you their opinions of whether you educated them in what you wanted to say, or not. Sometimes, the hardest thing to do is move from an idea into a shooting plan (i.e. a script), so don't get discouraged if it isn't perfect the first time you try.

Then, it's all in the production, and distribution. YouTube will distribute it for free, but there's an awful lot of videos to wade through, there. Having a catch title, and promoting it on the forum(s) would hopefully present your video to folks that would be interested.

I should mention I want to do this all for free. The internet has a plethora of information for free so I would want this to be the same. The way I look at it in my life right now is yeah I know there are a lot better holsters and belt then what I have. However, what I have is working for me so maybe it would for someone else?

I got this http://www.walmart.com/ip/Faded-Glory-M ... t/22176487" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; for 12.99 or so. I have a tool pouch at work that has a clip on it similar to a mag pouch. It held all my tools up plus my pants. So I decided to try the gun out with it. Absolutely no sag. That is a really poor picture. I will try and get some videos made with the belt/holster combo I am currently using.

I got my CHL in November, so I started out with a Kangaroo Carry holster http://kangaroocarry.com/index.php?opti ... &Itemid=15" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; which is actually quite comfortable (I carry a G36) and not too terribly expensive. As the weather warmed up (and I built up a stash of $$) I got a Galco IWB holster. I already had a pretty good belt from Wally World http://www.walmart.com/ip/Wrangler-Men- ... ethod=p13n" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; so that was one thing I didn't need to get.
