my son is over 21, in the Texas national Guard. I wanted to gift him my older pistol (9mm).
I thought I heard some new law preventing that?

Welcome to the forum.
As long as he can legally own a handgun then you can gift it to him if you are both Texas residents.

HI Keith, thanks...yes we are both Texas residents and he is a Texas NG member; I am retired military ...I thought they passed a new law stating this was a No GO? why I asked. BTW, where do you teach as I want my son to get his CHL before I would do this. Also, is there any paperwork required to gift it? BigJohn

No paperwork required to gift it to him.
I am associated with Crossfire Training
http://www.crossfire-training.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. Classes are generally held at Cabela's in Fort Worth. Crossfire is also one of our forum Moderators here and is the owner and lead instructor. I'm a little partial, but I highly recommend the class. I was a student of theirs and became an Range Officer and Instructor for them because of their high quality.
If the locaiton is not good for you him, there are numerous other instructors on our forum that may be close.
