Ok so I just bought my second glock 27 "gen 3" from gunbroker.com and I was pretty excited because I got it for what I thought was a good price but that's besides the point. So anyway when I get it home from my FFL I noticed it looked a little different from the glock 27 I purchased the previous week, the most obvious differences were in the way the serial numbers on the slide looked and the glock I got this week not having a loaded chamber indicator. The seller listed the glock as a gen 3 but in my limited research it seems as if gen 3 27's have loaded chamber indicators. So I'm reaching out to a community I hope to be more knowledgeable than myself and I'm asking point blank period did I get taken and should I file a claim against the seller?

Gen 3 Glocks were manufactured with 3 different design extractors. Completely flat extractor(no LCI), flat with a raised square near the ejection port(LCI gen 3) concave with a raised square near the ejection port(LCI gen 4). Which extractor you have depends on date of manufacture.
I was told the switch to the Gen 4 type extractor LCI was due to the drag on holsters made with Kydex.

I'll be darned. I had to go look and sure enough, mine have that. It's not very obvious, but they both have them. Cool!

Yea it is not much of an "indicator."

The ATF has better things to do than worry about you accidentally picking up a firearm. It was processed through the FFL so I do not think you have anything to worry about.

Thanks, these are my 1st 2 glocks so I had no idea there were so many variations in the gen 3s

I agree, I had a sig with the a pop up indicator and it was pretty obvious when loaded.

I hope so but I've heard ATF horror stories so I just wanted to be sure. I see you're located in friendswood also and i'm looking into maybe having a full time ffl do my next transfer so I don't have that issue again. How much do you charge for a handgun transfer?

I am about as far from a Glock expert as can be, but they do like considerably different to me. The 2nd pic is the one the really makes them look different. The trigger guard doesn't look the same, the polymer frame forward of the trigger guard is significantly thicker on the gun on the right. I'm sure there is some variation in production, but I would think Glock's tolerances would be much closer than that.

But then again, maybe is the angles if both guns are perfectly flat and the camera is at an angle.

If there this checkering on the front strap it's a gen 3, if there is no chekering it's a Gen 2.
