Hello, I needed to replace my guide rod for SA 1911 lightweight champion operator. I was not sure which kind would work for it. I was looking at brownells but was unsure which one would work or where to get the original. I emailed SA, but do any of you know which other guide rods would work?

One of the easiest and least expensive changes is to buy a GI style guide and a standard plug. I deep six all FLGRs from 1911 pistols that have them. It just makes operation simpler.

I'm not sure that would work. I have a Springfield Armory Champion as well (GI model) and it uses a captured recoil spring assembly with a 4" bushingless bull barrel. The slide is NOT machined to accept a bushing to retain a standard plug. If x007x's pistol is like mine, I don't think this fix would work.
As for replacement, I haven't -had- to replace my springs yet, so I have no idea what part to use. The email to SA is probably the best bet.
