Mounted light, extra cord

On my M4, I have attached a light. I can have either the button on the back of the light or a pressure switch. When I have the button on the back I can operate it with my thumb. I'm trying different things and have attached the pressure switch, but don't know what to do with all the extra cord. I have it wrapped around the quad rails now and it looks terrible. What do you all do?

No suggestions or recommendations? I'm a little surprised after this many views. Does everyone else have the same issue and are waiting for someone that has solved it to respond? Or did ya'll just ditch the pressure switch and go back to the button on the back of the light?

Maybe you could cut the wire, solder it back together, and cover the soldered patch with heat shrink.

That's the only thing I've thought of too. Short of contacting the manufacturer to ask if they have one with a shorter cord I may have to cut it myself. Has anyone doe that with a switch like this? I guess, it it doesn't work I can just put the cap with the button back on.

This was the very reason I opted for the cordless light/laser combo.

I have a cheap UTG light around here somewhere. It had that coiled cord & pressure switch and I had the same issue with it.

Then I found this: http://www.inforce-mil.com/wml-black.php

At 125 lumens, it worked well on my shotgun. The angled button on the back made thumb activation easy.

A few weeks ago, I stumbled across this at GT Distributors: http://www.streamlight.com/product/product.aspx?pid=276

630 Lumens turns darkness into high noon and it's just as easy to activate as the WML.

Here's the link to GT. At $139.95, it's hard to beat.

No more "remote switches" for me. :tiphat:

Mine is well forward and I used black cable ties to run it back to the foregrip. The wire is coiled and fairly short unstretched and I actually have to stretch it out a little to get there. I used black rubber bands to secure the pressure switch to the right side of the foregrip, so I can operate the light by squeezing with my fingers.

I put an Elzetta flashlight mount on my AR.

What kind of rail do you have? Mine runs along the interior wall of my DD MFR rails and zip ties keep it from contacting the barrel.

I could do that, but wondered if the barrel would get to hot for the cord and cause it to melt. Troy quad rail. le6920mp-r

Good idea, never thought of that. Mine is wrapped around the outside of my rail - looks messy.

I think for us to best assist you a couple pictures of your problem might help.
How much length do you have?

Sorry I didn't get back to this thread earlier. I was looking for something else and tripped across it again. Ultimately, I didn't not like the little switch and changed back to the button on the back of the light itself. So, problem solved.

Thanks everyone.
