Hi,

I know that Six Flags is 30.06 posted, so I won't be carrying a gun and I know that knives are against their rules, but is it LEGAL? I don't care if I break Six Flags rules as I will only be thrown out of the park, but I don't want to get in trouble with the law. Anybody know if it is legal to sneak a ceramic knife past their metal detectors?

I hate going to 30.06 posted places but I got some free tickets as a gift and my S.O. would kill me if I didn't take her to Six Flags and gave away the tickets instead.

If six flags has a proper 30.06 sign then yes, it is off limits. If it is not proper, then it is technically not illegal to carry.

His question however, had to so with knives. That, I do not know as CHL law only addresses an illegal knife, sorry.

It is my understanding that it is illegal, but I have not been in several years so the laws may have changed.

The question had to do with a knife. The OP said he would not be carrying a gun. If it is a legal knife by state law, where is the section that prohibits it in an amusement park? I am unaware of this statute.

If there is any sign saying no knives, criminal trespass 30.05 would apply. With no notice, it would not be illegal.

I've been to six flags before and they have a 30.06 sign that is valid but no "no knives" sign. If this has changed and they have a "no knives" sign, then please someone let me know. Thanks!

I was referring to my experience in attempting to carry a knife into six flags. It was illegal at the time that I went with a knife, or at least that is what I was told when it was confiscated. Again, my experience years ago. Laws may have changed.

They just stole your knife. Security is supposed to check your knife for you and give it back to you when you leave. They are not supposed to "confiscate" stuff. Think about it. They are not even the police. What authority do they have to "confiscate" your property?

Shady security. What more reason do you have to securing a means of self-defense?

Security doesn't "take" anything even if some are a little off with their verbiage. No one is ever going to check anything and accept the liability that comes with keeping track of stuff without them getting paid for it. They have signs not to bring it in? You then either dump it or make the walk. Lets face it unless it's a real pricey knife you are not going to make the long walk back to the car then stand in line for who knows how long to get back into the park or totally ruin the day for your wife and kids by leaving. You ditch the knife . If it's something illegal they also can easily wave over a cop if you want to argue so again it would take someone real special not to give it up.

You need to take your own advice and go back and read the WHOLE thing.

My daughter in law works in management out there and we have been several times. They do wand you and if found they will have you return it to your car. They will not allow access to the park if found.

It's unfortunate, but now that I am more conscious of the safety of myself and family - I have discovered the many places that I will not go simply because I am limited in my ability to protect myself. We recently went to the State Fair and were pleased to know we could carry in there... It was nice.

Well, to avoid a possible 2 mile walk of shame to my car and back while my angry s.o. waits, I think I'll just not carry the knife. I'll see if I can muster up a large group to go with us. I am not happy about this at all. I would normally never go where I am denyed my natural human right of self defense as guaranteed by the constitution. Why anyone would give up their human rights just to go upside down at 60 mph on an old wooden railroad is beyond my comprehension.

Six flags here in San Antonio has metal detectors you have to go through. I had left my knife and needle tips (I'm a type 1 diabetic) in my cargo pocket. They used the wand after I beeped. I just showed them my needles and let me through. I had totally forgot about my knife in my pocket. I mean.. I carry one everywhere. I forget about it. I felt uncomfortable when I was there. They had rent a cops everywhere with radios. Yeah.. Awesome protection.

It feels weird not to carry. :)

I went to Six Flags in S.A. a few years ago. I didn't think about my pocket knife when I went there. They stored my pocket knife while I was in the park and returned it when I left.
