Update only the front Night Sight?

I've got a few slides that have older nightsights on them. They still glow, but not very bright. I'm considering replacing/relamping only the front sights instead of front & rear. My thinking on this is that it will make me focus more on the brighter front sight.

Has anybody tried this? Is it a bad idea?

I have read about that being done many times (on other forums.) But I think they usually were going from standard (non glowing) to the tritium front as an upgrade on smaller carry guns. Not that it matters, as long as you like it. Try one and shoot it some and then make up your mind on the others. If you don't like it you can always follow suit with a new rear sight.

I got a new gun carry that does need night sights before I will carry it. Kinda tempted to only do the front on it too.

A number of well respected trainers advocate doing that.

I replace the black or white dot contrast front sights on all my guns that allow it with a green fiber optic. In bright daylight, the sight is screaming HERE I AM! In dim light situations it still picks up enough light to be visible. If there isn't enough light to see the sight there's probably not enough light to properly ID a target and a flashlight would come into play.

I put a tritium post on my first AR but didn't get the radioactive rear sight. It worked well back in the day, but now I run a RDS.
