Went shooting in Elgin this weekend

Went with a buddy from work who has his FFL. Met up with his friends - some from Houston, the rest more local here to Austin. Shot on personal property - over 10 acres out in the boonies. Loved it there.
Property owner wasn't home - but we had permission to be there, and they even apparently left a key for the two very pregnant ladies to use the restroom if needed. Firing into a small birm.
Much gunfire was had - I personally fired my Beretta Storm and my Mossberg 12ga. My buddy brought his Mosin, which was an absolute blast. Fired a home made AK. That was neat - and loved the fact that it was purely self-sufficiently built.
There was CHL testing going on too - I believe all 3 testers passed.
Also fired two different AR's. I have to say firing the one they had named "Baby Bear" was rough - not even iron sights. Couldn't hit a THING. Tried Mama Bear - one of the wive's guns with iron sights, and minimal accessories. Much better experience, although it was still built too small for me to properly get a sight picture since I'm HUGE compared to the person it was adjusted for. Didn't shoot Papa Bear - way too much weight in accessories for me, and knew I wouldn't like it due to weight alone.
Great shooting day though. Hundreds and hundreds of rounds. Children fired too - cricket 22's and even the big AR, and the Glocks for even the smallest of small fries in attendance. THAT is what I call a party - not like the nonsense that went on in Cypress/Houston this weekend.
And, it proved one thing to me. When I buy my AR, I will just want a basic scope on it. The one they mentioned came from WalMart for $40 that was every bit as good as the $120 ones elsewhere has my vote so far.
