Doctor's office notice

I went to my doctor's office today. He used to have a legal 30.06 sign posted at the door, so I would not carry. Today, I did a double take. The sign is gone. In It's place is a simple 8x10 sign that says, "Due to state laws, carrying a concealed weapon on the premises is illegal". It had a code listed underneath, but I didn't take a picture, so I can't recall the code.

I'm confused. Why go from Texas legal 30.06 to a questionable sign? Did something change in state law?

The law didn't change, but maybe your doctor did.

My Dr. likes to shoot. So does my Dentist. For now I am pretty sure I won't be seeing a gun buster or 30.06 sign on either place.

Just out of curiosity because this has never happened to me. What if you are carrying and the Dr. ask you to drop trowel for an exam or shot? I wonder how that conversation would go? Maybe something like this -

Doc, if I drop my pants your gonna see my gun so don't be alarmed. Dr's reply - Not to worry. You've got nothing I haven't seen many times before.

Knowing that it is a possibility, i usually pocket carry when going to Dr. Office. Like I said above, he likes to shoot but I see no reason to make an issue over something I can keep from being an issue. Pocket carry is a sure way of not concealing more than my bum.

I'm wondering if someone is carrying in the office now.

I didn't ask him about it due to my privacy. I think he knows enough.

I would have asked why the sign change. If any questions by the Dr., I would tell him/her needs one that said CHL's Welcome. Then change the subject.

Maybe he or a loved one got mugged - the mugging may have been prevented had the muggee been armed. Thus a new opinion about guns was born and the sign removed. Maybe...

As for an unexpected doctor visit ending up with having to reveal I was armed, this is what I did: I said O.K., but first let you show you something. I pulled out my CHL, handed it to him. He read it and grinned.

I then very carefully pull out my Glock 19 from my OWB holster and carefully placed it on top a chair facing away from us and then gingerly placed my clothing on top.

No muss, no fuss and he told me how much he likes skeet and trap shooting.
