Thanks for the post. No comment. I can't think of an appropriate response.

This goes in the Never Again file for me. I live pretty close to Marshall and this hit a little too close to home. I've gotten complacent about not always carrying...gonna try and do better.

I think he was looking for a long warm and three squares stay in jail.
This is why I carry!

Somebody could easily hurt 3 or more people with a hatchet or even a sharp knife way too fast for anybody to react. The store may have dozens of checkout lines, but most of the time only a couple are open at a time causing lots of people clustered together. I mainly go later at night while they're stocking the shelves since there are a LOT less people in the store.

Apparently somebody threw soup cans at the guy to stop him.

Dang, I've visited that store. Did he get the hatchet in the store or did he bring it in with him?

You may carry everywhere you go for decades and never need to use your firearm to defend yourself...or you may go to a perfectly safe place tomorrow and meet this guy's twin. Better carry than sorry.

I live in Marshall, so this is the least distasteful Walmart for me to visit. From what I've heard locally, he had the hatchet with him. It seems this all started because the store wouldn't let him bring his dog in with him, but I can't track down where I read that. He's currently sitting in the local jail charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

He looks angry.

His eyes look look hollow. It is as if he has no soul. I notice this same look on the occasions I am bored enough to watch a show called lockup. It shows some of the most hard core criminals. It is humbling to think people like this are out there amongst us.
