Can anyone recommend a good place to take the CHL course near Rockwall or possibly even Greenville?

Thanks!

Kevin, check out: http://www.gunplay.us

Ask for Roy or Ed - they are both great trainers and their range is first class and just a few minutes from you.

In fact, the TRPC is one of the finest shooting facilities around the country, and it's also one of the best kept secrets. Once you've visited you'll understand what I mean.

They have great members along good instructors, and IDPA & Bulls Eye matches are scheduled every month. If you ever wished you had your own parcel of land, with all kinds of great ranges, a first class club house, and you could pretty much access it at any time; well you need to check it out.

They're very selective on their memberships (if you have a CHL you will have no problem) and once you visit and talk to the members you'll appreciate that fact. For $125 per year you can't find a better bargain around for a facility like this. That's only $10 a month - like I said a real bargain.

I took mine at Bullet Trap in Plano, but they only offer the New CHL class on Saturdays which probably won't work for you being on the media staff at Lake Pointe. BTW, I attend the Town East campus & serve on the media team once a month. Small world, huh?

You may want to check out Target Master in Garland--they show to have a class that runs Mon-Wed-Fri over the course of a week from 6:00-9:30.

I also got my CHL course work done at Bullet Trap in Plano. Overall, I'd give it high recommendations. It may not work so well if you have to commute, though. Fingerprinting only happens on Mondays, so you'll have to come back to get that done--unless you choose to get that part done locally.

Just FYI - membership has been closed for some time now. The club is replacing members that don't renew or have left the range so very few spots are available - looong wait list. The initiation fee has also increased to $400 or $450 (?) but the member fee is still very low. It is still a great club - and the CHL course put on by Gunplay is very good indeed.

:iagree: For larger classes they have them at Southern Junction and their range is just down 276.

If you don't mind driving to McKinney, I recommend Texas Concealed Carry Institute. A great couple of guys and fairly small classes. http://www.txconcealedcarry.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I'm not pushing these guys or are connected to them other than that's where I took my class and really enjoyed it. Anyway, I get "newsletters" from them every so often and just passing it on, starting with July classes, all new and renewal classes will be $35. (and yes I realize renewal classes won't be needed after Sept.1)
