I should not have gone to Cabela's today.

But I did. Now I want two guns this year. I went to look for a couple of things and check on a few others. I hoped to find a Glock 34 to get my hands on and see if I liked it or not with the intention of getting one for my daughter to move up to 9mm this year and something for me to improve with in IDPA. They were completely sold out of all 9mm Glocks!!! Not one in the house. I don't even remember seeing a used one.

What they did have, though, was a Glock 41. They also had a Glock 30 FXS, but couldn't tell any difference other than a larger mag release button and the clerk didn't know what the difference was from the regular G30 either. Anyway, that G41 looked niiiiiice. :grumble I still think I want the G34 for my daughter to move up to 9mm, but now I also want a G41.

Anyone have one? How do you like it?

Do you qualify for the special glock pricing at Gt's?

Don't think so. I'm not LE or anything.

Join GSSF. And as a member you can buy one Glock a year at GT's with special pricing from Glock.

And how much does joining that cost?

A 1 year individual membership is $35/year. It also qualifies you for CMP purchases as well.

I'm a member. You can also take the armorers course. The pricing is a hair higher than first responder pricing. You can get any Gen 3 or Gen 4 9/40/357 for $425. The 45/10s are a little higher.

What were they asking for the 41 ? Does it have the extended mag release you mentioned ?

Anything that is Gen 4 will have the extended mag release, textured grip. and changeable back straps. Here is a pricing guide. It doesn't have the 41 on it because its so new. However there is a phone number you can call and you can ask. http://www.gssfonline.com/GSSF_Pistol_P ... mation.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; http://gssfonline.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

added text: The web site is acting weird but you can still see the link for the pricing and it works. It's just the main page. I forgot to mention but at the matches an armorer (a more advanced one) will be there and will detail strip your pistol and replace any broken parts for free. Where I live right now I do the indoor league sits once a month and the armorer isn't always there. He's going to be there next month with various Glocks to try. He even provides ammo.

Cabela's price for the Glock 41 was $700 ($699), but they are usually about $50 higher than other places. I didn't not handle the 41 because I didn't want to be too tempted, but as Remington79 mentioned, it probably will have the extended mag release button because it is so new.

I don't know if I'll be able to get it this year or not, but probably not because I want to get a 9mm for my daughter and I to use together and guns aren't the only thing I should be spending money on.

I'm thinking about getting a new Gen 4 G19. The lgs has them for $559 but I'll be able to get it for $425 plus tax and whatever Trijicons are going for.

may be a stupid question. Do you have to compete to be a member? I would pay 35 a year to get a new glock at that price. Its not that I don't want to compete. Time and money.

C-dub, I have a G34 that you are welcome to look at or shoot if you'd like. I live in the mid cities and office in Carrollton.

They are sweet shooters.

I don't know if they keep track or not. Some areas only have a few outdoor matches a year. There aren't any near me so I do the indoor league. I have a place that's about 20 minutes away. When we move back to Texas this year the closest place for me will be in Conroe. there used to be a place in Tyler that held them a couple of years ago.

OK so I got long winded. They do list winner's names in their magazine they put out twice a year. The only thing they really keep track of anything is for CMP. You do have to be a member for 1 full year before you get the discount card. The indoor league costs me $15 a match and 50 rounds of ammo. I saw there is an outdoor match in San Antonio and in Carrollton.

Looking at this reminds me of what I thought a few years ago, why aren't there any indoor ranges and gun stores that aren't pawn shops around the Nac/Lufkin area?

Sorry if I'm rambling but I'm typing one handed while holding and taking care of my (now sleeping) 10 month old.

That would be great. Are you a Monday-Friday worker or are you over in Carrollton on the weekends at all? Either way, we might have to set up an Elm Fork trip sometime or maybe some place closer to you if you'd like.
