i couldn't find anything about headstart centers being accredited by the TEA, but they do receive 80% of their funding from the federales. off the cuff, i would think that they are not a school (not statutorily off limits), but rather closer to a daycare providing additional services as outlined in the HS program. another wrinkle is that this particular center is located on a comunnity college campus with the name of the center carrying the name of the campus. i'm thinking that the latter makes it a no-carry, but a self-contained HS center would probably be ok.

any thoughts? i tried searching, but my search-fu is lacking and all i came up with was a bunch of posts about getting a head start on various things, and IDPA head shots.

If it is located on the college campus, you can carry on campus grounds but not into campus buildings.

The crux of this issue is "what is a school?"
Accreditation may be a factor.
Funding, I don't think it's a factor, as private schools are just as much schools as the public version.
Are pre-K education centers "schools" regardless of what agenda they are teaching? I assume so.. At least in light of not wanting to make the caselaw that straightens it out.

That's great if it's established... Can you tell me where it's defined by that in law?
If what you're saying is true, it would mean that all pre-K and Montessori "schools" are not schools for the purpose of enforcement. That means if you were known to carry concealed and someone called about you showing up to their child's school, you'd have nothing to worry about.

Again, I don't know if that is or isn't the case, I'm just looking for something solid.
