What kind of shotgun ammo would you recommend for disabling drones?

If I were an officer in a stand off, I'd like to know.

We wouldn't want citizens doing the same thing the government is doing to us now would we?

Are civilian drones being operated or are we to be sure if there's drone in sight we can be certain it's governmental?

Also, if a drone was hovering over my property would it be legal to blast it out of the sky?

Magnum 3" or 3.5" Turkey loads with a Turkey choke on your shotgun.

For the type of drone pictured, I think BB, BBB, or T shot would be plenty. More pellets = better chance of hitting a critical component to bring it down.

Depending on how high they are flying, barrel length may be as important as ammo choice. Are we talking goose length or dove?

Hahah!
That Gun Club that had the Dove Shooting Event, had no problem immediately bringing down the "PETA-Type Group" Drone that flew over their property.

Even better was the Judicial ruling on the incident, summarizing the Judge's ruling as "Well, what did you think was going to happen?"

My brother-in-law does aerial photography with these type of drones. He may very well have seen his footage on TV. TheNBA Finals promo shot looking at the doors of AT&T center and backing out through the arbor and rising into the air to see the whole place was shot by my brother-in-law. He uses it to do TV spot work and folks pay him to do aerial video for when folks are listing high dollar property to sell. These drones are common and fun to play with. I may link to a facebook video of his to show you what can be done with these things.

.410 is enough for drones but use at least a 12ga on the queen.

Texas law is so screwy on drones, let one fly over your house, report them and collect big $. Unless of course it's big brother. .410 is expensive and harder to get. Go with 12 g value packs. Cheap and are known drone killers. Of course, for the legal people this is all in jest and I would not do a Joe Biden with my shotgun unless it was for true hunting or clays.

What's the difference in an RC drone and an actual aircraft in terms of legality in TX?

Actual aircraft are controlled by the FAA. There are height regulations for planes over houses but a helicopter could legally hover and take pictures. I don't understand all of the drone laws in Texas. Seems to me that it would be a fun advertising business to be able to do video over say a car lot or to help in real estate sales or whatever.
