This happened at a movie theater early Sunday morning. The couple probably went to the 9:45 showing. It is located in Greenway Plaza which is a large commercial area between downtown and the Galleria. Most of the residential (with land) in that area sells for more than $750,000.

They were walking on the side walk when a car pulled up and a robber stuck a gun out the window to rob them. The off duty HPD officer drew and open fire wounding two of the three men inside the car. They drove off and were later arrested at the hospital. The gun was ditched on the way there.

Now imagine: if the GG was not an officer, he was by himself (no witnesses) the gun was not recovered and the BG's were good story tellers " we just stopped to ask directions". I guess here is the importance of calling 911 and reporting immediately what happened.

Anyway well done HPD.

Drive thru robbery...it may gain in popularity. No need to run to a getaway car, you are already in it!!!

Glad it turned out ok for the GG. Reinforces my plan to avoid Houston.

For a fact, most current air and pellet guns will definitely pass for the real thing; especially, when pointed at you. So, shoot first and ask questions later.

The story said the 3900 block of Portsmouth; that'd be the Edwards theater on Weslayan at Richmond. They probably parked on the street and were walking to the theater. Much easier to get away from than the Greenway Plaza theater (with underground parking).

When you look into their eyes, it's almost as if you can see the gears turning in what passes for their brain pan.
That'll learn 'em.

Good shooting, officer!
If three were arrested it sounds like the shooting could have been better. :totap:

He was on a date. He was shooting to wound. Probably twirled his pistol on his finger as he reholstered to impress his lady.
