This happened at a movie theater early Sunday morning. The couple probably went to the 9:45 showing. It is located in Greenway Plaza which is a large commercial area between downtown and the Galleria. Most of the residential (with land) in that area sells for more than $750,000.
They were walking on the side walk when a car pulled up and a robber stuck a gun out the window to rob them. The off duty HPD officer drew and open fire wounding two of the three men inside the car. They drove off and were later arrested at the hospital. The gun was ditched on the way there.
Now imagine: if the GG was not an officer, he was by himself (no witnesses) the gun was not recovered and the BG's were good story tellers " we just stopped to ask directions". I guess here is the importance of calling 911 and reporting immediately what happened.
Anyway well done HPD.
