Hello I am a store owner in Dallas TX. I used to carry a gun at the store, we had a robbery at gun point with one of the employees and they took the gun we did reported the gun stolen. Now I can't buy another gun because in the course of time from the first purchase of my handgun and the robbery I was charged with a Felony 3 which I am still fighting with the court and the D.A. What can I do any suggestions? The neighborhood of my store is really bad. There was a shooting 15 feet away from my store. Really helpless. :( please help

Welcome to the forum. Sorry you are facing challenges.

Since you are under indictment with a felony, it is illegal for anyone (FFL dealer or private individual) to sell you a firearm.

However, you are not prohibited from possessing a firearm unless or until you are actually convicted. Upon conviction, it would be illegal to possess.

Too bad you didn't own more than one gun. As Clint Smith often says, "Two is one and one is none."

1) Install a a panic-button alarm system wired to reach your PD with coordinates.
2) Install HD DVR Camera system.
3) Fight your Felony Charge.
4) Again, Fight your Felony Charge.

Without knowing any specifics, you could allow or even pay for your employees to get their CHLs and carry in the store. I agree with others, maybe upgrade your security system. Just spit-balling here. Good luck and welcome to the forum.

Wouldn't a black powder revolver be legal? I was thinking that was not defined as a "firearm".

Why were you charged with a felony? Was it because the gun taken from you was used in a felony or another reason?

The felony is for pirated dvd's.

Although your ownership of a firearm is up in the air, it may be time to load up on non-gun weapons:
Baseball bat, golf club, knife, machete, and a supersize can of mace/pepper spray are the first items
that come to mind. A pot of hot coffee thrown at a BG's face ought to mess with his eyesight.

If you have employees who aren't "illegal persons", encourage them to carry 1 or 2 handguns ON BODY.
A gun under the counter doesn't do anyone any good if you happen to be away from the counter.

Black powder handgun/rifles beat nothing at all. Someone here will verify but I think a felon can have black powder firearms.

The OP is not prohibited from possessing firearms because he is only under indictment, has not been convicted.

However, he is not allowed to purchase a firearm.

You could always purchase in a taser. The technology has evolved tremendously since first being introduced.
