Not thinking about the hollyweird production. I was thinking about a documentary of the actual events when and if it occurs. As others have stated if it does occur it very likely will not be survivable so the point is moot.

Ahhh. OK. I actually did see a program about it on (Discovery/History/TLC/Nat-Geo?) I don't remember for sure where. It was pretty good, and pretty scary. IIRC the gist was that the whole world would pretty well screwed. The force of the explosion would pretty much take out everything living thing west of the Rockies, Ash would suffocate anything left west of the Appalachians, and the rest of the world would suffer through a couple of years of "nuclear winter." Probably not quite an extinction level event, but it would definitely thin the population, and probably put us back to the stone age. And by "us" I mean humanity. I doubt there would be many Americans in this new world.
