New Ruger Red Label 12 ga

I have been shooting 5 stand, Sporting clays, and skeet for about a year and a half with a Weatherby semi-auto. I decided to give an O/U a try since that seems to be the preferred shotgun of choice on the clay fields. Not really sure what will happen on the skeet field tomorrow but it should make for an interesting morning at ASC to say the least. I am cleaning her up as I post this so pictures will be later tonight. Hopefully there won't be a huge learning curve as I adjust to the new shotgun.

Unless I happen to be running Skeet/Skeet chokes I normally have the first barrel with a slightly tighter choke than the second, as the first bird on doubles in Skeet is the going-away bird (longer distance than the closer second bird). Not really a huge deal on the skeet-field, sure, but "two chokes" really comes into its own on Sporting or 5-stand, as you no doubt know.
Many times on 5 stand or sporting clays I wished for two chokes!

First time out with the gun and shot a 37 on the Skeet Field. Not shabby I guess for never having shot an O/U before. I did like the feel of the gun just got to get a feel for her.

My BiL and I shot 2 rounds of formal skeet today as well - he with his 20ga pump, me with my new .410 Yildiz SxS. I don't mean to hijack your thread, but I got a nice pic of him dusting a station 8 bird:

Here's me, same station:

Nice shooting Andy. I don't know where you live but at ASC we shoot 5 stand 1st sat, sporting clays 2nd sat, skeet the 3rd sat of the month. Non members can shoot they just pay a bit more.
You should come out and join us sometime.

I just Googled ASC and saw it's actually in Mansfield,

about 3 miles SSE as the crow flies from my daughter and son-in-laws home there.

That would be correct. They have matches most Saturdays. All matches are listed on the website calander and are open to non members for an additional fee. It is a great club to join as it is underutilized.

I don't live in the area. I'm a member of Pearland Sportsman Club which is no longer in Pearland, but Friendswood. Kind of like ASC, I've only been to Alpine three or four times, but never shot claybirds. I have shot at Elmfork with Andy C a couple of times. When my daughter lived in Grand Prairie I shot pistols at Bullseye.

Arlington Sportsman Club isn't that far from Alpine, not as crowded either.
