I have purchased some CMC power mags and some Tripp Cobra mags for my 1911 but haven't tried them yet. I didn't want to put my eggs all in one basket and buy a bunch of just one brand because I want to see what works well, but Ihave noticed when I put the CMC mag into the mag well of my Ruger SR1911 it has some resistance going in unlike the Ruger mags that I believe are made by Checkmate. Has anyone tried these two brands and how well did they function?

I have an STI Guardian and use the Tripp Cobra mags and really like them. I've never had any issues with fit, feeding or function. I tried Wilson Combat, but had several feed issues.
Good luck!

thought about getting some Wilsons, but after looking at reviews it seems like a lot of people are high on Tripp Cobra mags and there seems to be people who prefer CMC mags over Wilson and Wilson over CMC so I guess I will purchase a couple of each and see what runs best in my 1911 and I guess you can never have too many 1911 mags

the two mags that came with my Ruger seemed to be good quality and I believe they r Checkmate made for Ruger. I haven't checked pricing on those but they may be cheaper than the others

the spring seem stiff so they are hard to load by hand but with the Uplula mag loader they are easy

I like PSI-Act mags. They make mags for some of the 'brand' names:
http://www.act-mag.com/index.php/id-1911-mags.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
for 1911 in 9mm I only use metalform:
http://www.metalform.us/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Find what your gun likes and stick with them. Like AndyC said the follower on the Wilson wears out and eventually stops holding the slide open. Tripp followers will fit 99% of the 1911 mags on the market that's what I upgrade with.

Midway had a sale that began the 19th so don't know if they are still on sale. Chip McCormick Shooting Star from $11.99-$13.99. Worth giving them a call.

I prefer to stick with the old 7 rounders
But I carry a Wilson 47T 10 rounder while hunting hahaha
For those that want to try them, or get some at a great price, CDNN has the CMC 8 round mags for $12.99!
