Need help on a renewal

Hey all,

I'm actually member "RSJ". I haven't been around in a while... but I have always appreciated this forum's help. It seems that access to my e-mail that I used to register a few years ago is locked :smash:
I hope I am not violating any rules; I have sent a PM to site admins in the hopes of getting this fixed. Anyways, on to the bigger problem.

I am coming up on my first renewal. From my understanding, despite what I was told in my class in 2010, the process has greatly changed.

Anyways, I am moving.... in fact I have keys to both houses and am ready to "pull the trigger" on the move whenever. I called the DPS number and eventually got through to a represenative who said, "use your current address, then hand write the new address onto the paper that you'll print". Well, I followed her instructions, paid the $72, checked the affidavit boxes, and went to print. All that printed was a "checklist" that has two boxes: (1) Checklist, (2) TxDPS will attempt to nofity me if my prior prints or pictures are no-good.

So my question is, (1) how and where do I "write" in a address? What is this https://www.txdps.state.tx.us/InternetF ... CHL-77.pdf Do I send this in too? (2) what am I supposed to send to them (is it really just this checklist that is self-checking???) and (3) When can/should I update my Driver's license?

Thanks,

I hope this is clear... if not I can elaborate.

If the only item in the checklist, is the checklist itself, you need not send anything in.
I suppose in this case you could try writing the new address in the checklist and sending it, but I don't have high hopes that it would do much.

I guess I can try that, see if it works, and if not, send in for an updated license with the correct address.

Here is where I'm at per DPS' website:

Application : Received
Fingerprints : Not required, fingerprints on file
Affidavits : Received
DL or ID : Valid
Citizenship : No documentation required
Passport photo holder : Not required for renewal
Photo : Not required for renewal
Proof of Classroom training : Received
Proof of Proficiency training : Received
Fee : Received
Background Check : Under review
Concealed Handgun License : Print pending completion of application review

Any idea what this means time-wise? My expiration is in August.

#1. You got terrible advice, you should've put your new address in on your online renewal. #2. you need to send an email stating that you just moved & include your new address on the email. Hopefully they can edit your address before the license prints. #3. If you want to be on super safe side, you can fax your checklist & hand write your new address & that you want to amend the recent online renewal. Fax# 512-424-7284.
