Mossberg

I gave my two sons a shotgun each about a year ago. They were a Remington which belonged to my Dad and a Mossberg that I've had for about 30 years. Recently, I started to have this need of another 12 gauge. My wife surprised me with one for my birthday. It's a Mossberg Maverick 88 12 gauge. It has a nylon stock and looks good and is fairly light weight.
Has anyone had any experience with one of these. I realize that they are not on the expensive end and I have read mixed reviews. Any feedback would be appreciated.

I have 2 of them. they are basicly the same gun as the mossberg 500. except the safety is in a different position. I have ran at least thousand rounds through them they are very good guns for the price. I do prefer the 500 because of the length of pull on the stock otherwise i love them. i have one modified for home defence and the other is my coastal duck gun. to be honest i pick up my maverick most the time over my remington.

I have the 500A. It has been a good gun. Bought it at Walmart for $200 with the 28" ribbed vented barrel. When I got home with it I called Mossberg and ordered the 18.5" barrel for $90. So for under $300 I have a reliable multipurpose shotgun. Harvard to beat that.

The #1 resource for all things Mossberg is the Mossberg Owners Forum.

They're a friendly & helpful bunch.

Fly in the ointment story. I had an 18.5" 88 that wold not fire reliably, sent it back once and had a gunsmith friend look it over, no luck, I traded it for a 500A and never looked back. :tiphat:
