Darn - just re-read their rules and they now specifically don't allow pistol-gripped rifles or AKs

Well that's just weird. What's their reasoning behind that? Scary rifle factor?

Andy, the last time I was there, I shot my AR15 on the 100 yard line and they had no problem with it. That was about 3 or 4 months ago. When did they change the rules? That's just dumb. My AR10 is more accurate than most bolt action rifles.

I have not had to use an official/managed/whatever-you-call-it range in some years, and this certainly makes me glad about that. They have rules against pretty much everything I need and want to practice.

On a more positive note: 30 year old belt? And it still fits? Braggart!

He has no butt at all, so his belts have to work twice as hard as anybody else's......which makes a 30 year old belt even more miraculous!

Guess I'm not going there for a while, might as well use the indoor 100yrd rifle range up in frisco since i wouldn't be able to use surplus at elm fork anyway

They seem to have a thing against Russian rifles for some reason. No Mosins? Really? I notice the SVT-40 isn't banned though.

I just got an emailed reply from Dan Graeber, the General Manager of Elm Fork. I had send him a question regarding AR's on the 100 yard line. I told him that I had zeroed both an AR10 and an AR15 at the 100 yard line (using proper ammo) not that long ago, and that this rule appeared to be a departure from their previous rules.

Here is his reply:

Hi TAM,

My apologies for the misunderstanding of that rule. Your AR’s are more than welcome. That rule is best explained as pistol grip only. Therefore avoiding AK pistols, etc. You will need to use something ammo wise other than FMJ’s on the 100 yard line. PSP, Ballistic tip, or hollow point is all acceptable.

I hope this helps to clarify the rule. I look forward to seeing you at the range.

I think that email is saying that AK PISTOLS are not allowed. When he says "pistol grip only" I believe he is NOT referring to rifles that have pistol grips, but to rifle-ish devices that have only a pistol grip, i.e. not a shoulder stock.

People make fun of the grammar police, but I think a grammar swat team might should go over anything posted as a "rule."

I wonder if rifles with the thingy that goes up are allowed?

I agree. That doesn't make sense to me either, but ELB may be correct. I'd email them for clarification. Include a picture of the gun to make your point. It's worth a try, and maybe it will get them to correct their rules so that they make more sense.
