Expansion in Mini,Mcro, or, whatever fits in that catagory

Muzzle veloccity for the 45 in the mini barrel catagory seems to hover around -800FPS. Is anyone aware of any jello expansion tests for JHPs at 800fps?
If the highly touted JHPs don't expand at this reduced velocity, why not carry ball?

Speer Gold Dots come in a short-barreled version in .45 that expand at lower velocities.

Hornady Critical Defense is also sold as being optimized for short barrels.

The speer's short barrel are great like jumping frog mentioned. I have them for my glock 27 and snub nose smith. I think the Barnes round is the only way to go in .32acp and .380 if you run hps. It doesn't matter the barrel length they expand and penetration is deeper then most other jhp. 9-12 inch penetration in those calibers and they open up to .55-68. Downside is that they can get pricey! Also, I love them for my 10mm. Only hp round that can really take the 10mm hot load and stay together for the most part.

Just talked to corbon about there .32acp dpx round which has been out about 3 years but little data is available if any of you p32 guys are wondering. .36 increase in expansion with only 7-9 inchs of penetration through 10% ballistic gel and 4 layers of denim. Muzzle velocity is 1050 from 2.5 inch barrel. To give you an example of what that bullet can do with better velocity check this out.

Just not enough juice behind that .32 acp to penetrate well enough.
