My dad and i took our renewal class last year around april 2013. Things got really busy and we forgot to submit the paperwork. Will we have to retake the course?

Well, yes you're too late to send in paperwork from that class. However, you no longer have to take a class to renew. It does depend on when your CHL expired. If it is over 1 year, then you will have to go through the class again. if less than 1 yesr then you can still apply and not go through the class.

Keith what is the grace period after your license expire before you have to retake the class?

The new law says there is no grace period for renewals. http://www.legis.state.tx.us/tlodocs/83 ... 00048F.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

That is true in terms of the statute. However, in practice, DPS has still been allowing one year.

:iagree: So, as I stated above, if your CHL's are expired less than a year, go online and renew ASAP. if past 1 year expiration you msut take the class again and start from scratch.
