Just Picked Up My Ruger SR22s

Awhile back I sold all my .22LR pistols because I just don't find shooting .22LR very fun (it's just me.......I like larger calibers). I keep buying .22LR handguns and selling them and recently, when going through all my ammo, I found lots and lots of .22LR ammo (and a box or 2 of 22mag). I usually sell the ammo I no longer use but find myself re-buying a gun in that particular caliber and then having to purchase ammo again at higher prices!!!! Will I ever learn (and I'm not even going to get into the guns I've sold and then later purchased exact ones again)!!!

So I used "look at all the ammo I found" excuse to go ahead and pick up a couple of inexpensive semi-auto .22LR handguns and thought, what the heck, I normally like stainless/hard chrome/bling but I did purchase some OD and FDE Glocks so why not RASPBERRY and LILAC SR22s? :biggrinjester:

Each gun came with two mags, a smaller grip, and two basepads without the extension. Each gun also has a rebate of 1 extra magazine plus a box of 222 rounds of Winchester ammo. I certainly like not having to purchase more mags just yet.

I can't decide which grip feels the best so I have the standard on one gun and the smaller grip on the other and will hopefully decide after my range trip. I like the mags without the extended baseplate but left a couple of mags with the extension on them because my sister likes something to wrap her pinky around. I'm leaning towards the standard grip but will see. My G42 grip is pretty small and probably feels more like the SR22 small grip (although, of course, slightly different).

Won't go to the range until Tuesday but I'll report back on how they fire. The fired casing for the raspberry is June 2014 and the lilac is February 2014 so fairly new production.

The colors are NOT true in the picture......I don't know if it's my camera or editing software but the purple/lilac and raspberry is a considerably darker tone than shown (the raspberry is really off).......

You have .22 Mag? That's rarer than .22 LR so you could probably sell it for $500 a box

*continues to scour the shelves at local stores for .22 Mag*

Nice purchases too. I really like everything I've heard about these.

I may have to look for one of those. I've got a Walther 22 that I absolutely hate. It is hard to clean and is very picky on ammo. I may just chunk it and get a SR22s.

I had one of those Walther P22s also. I sold it off and got the SR22 and like it a lot better.

Well the rebate is good through November 30th.......there are some great prices on the auctions and of course the free mag and ammo put me over the edge. As it is with many guns these days, there are lots of internet gripes about issues (some resolved, some not and some not really issues to begin with). I read forums, reviews, etc for several weeks until I decided on the SR22. Nearly went with the new M&P 22 but it didn't have changeable backstraps and just seemed a little bigger, especially the grip. Plus I guess it's a different setup, being internal hammer? I did like the way it looked and it comes standard with a threaded barrel (yeah, dream on....). But it also cost more and since I wanted two of them just for occasional range use I couldn't justify the extra cost.....at least not for now.

When I received the SR22s I immediately liked the way they felt in my hand and I liked the way they were designed. I actually liked the one with the stainless slide (or anodized or whatever it is) but went ahead and bought the rasp/lilac instead.

If you do decide to purchase one, there is a significant difference in the cost if you are inclined to look around or purchase from an auction (look closely for dealers that ship for $10/free and don't charge a CC fee if that's a concern, they are out there). My FFL transfer fee is very low so that helps also. I first purchased the lilac from out of state and even with shipping and FFL fee it was $50+ less than any local dealers. Not much to some people but I was buying two of them. This wasn't a purchase that I really needed to look over in person and I happen to have purchased from the out of state dealer several times in the past. Prior to ordering the raspberry one, it did go on sale locally and even though it was still $17 higher, I do like to give the local dealers some business if I can so I purchased it locally.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to Tuesday so I can see how these function.

I have a hard time paying more than $250 for a 22 pistol when the ammo is so scarce but since you found a stash, congrats!

Just got back from the range. Shot the Lady Lilac SR22 and it functioned 100%.....not one hiccup.

Shot 50 rounds each of the below following ammo:

Federal Classic High Velocity 40 Gr Solid Copper Plated
Winchester SuperX Hollow Point plated 40 gr
Winchester SuperX High Velocity 40 gr 325 pack
Federal Auto Match Target Grade 40 gr Lead Round Nose 325 pack
Federal Champion High Velocity 36 gr copper plated Hollow Point value pak
Remington Thunder Bolt High Velocity round nose

I was just testing out all of the various ammo I have and didn't concentrate on accuracy. With that said I did shoot high right of the bullseye. Didn't try to adjust the rear sights because I will shoot for accuracy next time and make sure I am using the correct grip. The other guns I shoot are a Glock 34 and GLock 42 and I imagine that my finger position on the SR22 may be the culprit (oh......I shoot left handed). And darn it, had the standard grip on and forgot to switch it with the smaller one to see what difference it made, will do that next week when I go shooting.

Anyway, a great experience.......I love this gun!!!

Any suggestions on the grip/finger placement when shooting the SR22 would be appreciated........again, I was shooting high right (I guess 8-9 ring).

Thanks
