Does anyone know if there is an online source listing powder charges used in various factory loads? Can't find one, and it appears that manufacturers are not that keen on sharing.

Short answer - no, not that I've ever seen. Besides the proprietary nature of load recipes I could see that manufacturers could open themselves up to additional liability if someone tried to duplicate their published load and had an accident. Go with any good hand loading handbook and you can't go wrong. I personally like the Lyman books.

Kragluver is correct. The powder a manufacturer uses is a blend that allows the load to perform the best and meet SAMMI specs. The powder may be Hogden Clays 'like' but won't be the powder found in a bottle sold to you. If you like a certain load's ballistics - just find someone who has posted data for reloading to those ballistics.

Thanks for the replies. I am not trying to duplicate a factory recipe - I have my own favorites. I am just always so curious when I am shooting factory ammo what is hiding inside.
