Okay, I just came into a couple of bricks of 22 CCi mini mags and I want to get a 22 rifle finally. I love Ruger products and have been thinking about the 10/22 Takedown. I am thinking about the Takedown since it comes apart and will store in a bag. I fulltime in an RV since retiring several years ago and space is at a premium in an RV.

My question is this.......Is the Takedown a good gun to have or should I just go with one of the other 10/22 models?

The takedown model is a great rifle.

The 10/22 Takedown is a fantastic rifle and fun to shoot with the BX25 mags. In fact I have a second one coming in.....model 11125 which is a Davidson's exclusive (my other one is also the same model). There are a ton of models to choose from including a bunch of dealer exclusive ones. You just have to decide on finish, type of stock, length of barrel, etc......I searched for a few weeks until I decided on the model I purchased. If you go with a non-takedown model, they have what they call the "contest winner" gun which has a stock like the "American" rifles. You'll see the term 50th Anniversary Model thrown around but I believe that all 2014 10/22s have the 50th markings on the bolts.

Only thing I do to mine is install a bolt buffer and an auto bolt release (neither part is needed in my opinion but the auto bolt release is nice to have).

If you like to "tinker" with you guns there are other replacement parts but I like mine stock with the exception of the above two items.

W/ both of the above. I like my take down.when I want to I can lay it in case between my seats & it takes me about 15seconds to unzip, put it together & load.Excellent plinker for fun or small caliber carbine defense. You will not regret it.

I have a 10/22 but not a takedown yet. I'd like to have one. I think one is in my future though. I don't think you would be making a bad choice with one unless you're going to enter in an ultra accuracy shooting event. It might win then too but I don't know.

Nope. Both the front and rear sights are on the barrel.

I wanted to scope mine, so I wondered about any possible issues. I can now report that I don't see any change in POI at all.

I take the scope off (I use a QD mount) to store everything in the bag. When it all goes back together, I can be sure where the first round will go.

BTW, you can have a lot of fun and spend lots of money upgrading it. I did.

Pawpaw is so right. I assure you it will shoot better than I can & as good as ANY rimfire ammo.

Oh, one more thing............YOU'RE GONNA NEED MORE THAN A COUPLE OF BRICKS OF AMMO..........these things are really fun to shoot, especially with the BX25 magazines

And you can get a folding stock and make it even smaller.

Agree with all of the above - I've installed the bolt buffer and the bolt release.
I also bought the Williams scope mount with built in Peep sight on mine.
POI does not change either thru the peep or with scope mounted.
You will not regret this purchase.

Underfolderstocks.com. Not sure why but I just tried it and it's not working.
I got the angled one but there is a straight versions as well that works better with optics. They had a lot of different options.

I would jump at a takedown model if I find one at a decent price. I love my classic 10/22 and also fond of my Charger.
