I think you pretty much nailed it. I have never seen an 80% complete lower but I have to ask - how much machining is actually needed? I know, 20%, right?Charles L. So, in reality does that mean that a skilled machinist apprentice could use some files and a drill press and produce the same results? I don't know, I would have to see the 80% and compare it to the finished product. If you going to make *one* AR lower it really would be a waste of $$ in my book...any machine shop could handle this task. We ran a neat story on a guy that was making gun parts as a hobbyist for himself and others (all legal, of course) in his backyard shop and it kept on growing and growing...so, of course, he ended up with a full-blown machine shop...remember, you can't buy just ONE machine...it starts with one but it keeps on expanding!
