I stumbled onto this blog by a reference I found on another forum to which I belong. This guy is definitely one of us and has a way with words. He also has a forum attached to the blog.

Kim certainly has and interesting background, and firm opinions! I like most of them. He used to call his blog "Nation of Riflemen" just like the forums, but he ran into some problems trying to get financing to start a company to sell some software he (and his wife, I think) developed. One or more of the potential financiers read his blog and was not happy, I guess, withdrew his support. Kim reevaluated his public persona, ditched the old blog for this new one, which is where I think the name "TheOtherSideofKim" came from. So believe it or not, the blog you see now is the "kinder, gentler" Kim.

While I disagree on a few points with Kim du Toit, I have enjoyed reading his blog for a couple years now. It's -his- fault I got interested in Savage 99s and -his- fault I now own a 1941-vintage 99 EG in .300 Savage...

Complete with schnabel fore-end and the "full-length" 24-inch barrel, too.
Gotta take that ol' rifle hunting first chance I get... Kim was right on the money about that rifle/ammo combination being a sweet shooter. Plenty of power for most North American game (including elk, if you're a careful shot), yet still kinder and gentler to the shoulder than a .30-06.
Go give Kim's blog a read. It's well worth the time. And if you have (plenty) of time to burn, look through his "Gratuitous Gun Pictures" section, or "GGP." Be careful, though - you may end up with a hankering for "yet another gun."
