Post office changed Zip code: same as Address change?

My zip code changed by one digit my address is the same other than that. Does this mean I have to get my address updated at the DPS?

I'd expect this to be handled like having your street renamed; send the address change form, with a copy of whatever documentation you got from the post office, and no payment.
You might want to call DPS first and make sure, though.

Several years ago the PO/County changed my address for 911 emergency service. DPS gave me a free address change on the TX CHL. The driver's license section of DPS made me pay the address change fee.
Don't forget to notify EVERBODY on the planet about your address change.
I overlooked notifying my life insurance co (annual premium). We never got the annual bill from them. My life insurance lapsed. Everyting they mailed was returned. I don't know why they didn't CALL! Every other business in the USA calls me.

Geez, sounds like you need a new postmaster. Stuff still gets delivered to old RR addresses around here, and those have officially not existed for about 15 years.
Rural forwarding is a formality too; apparently when a carrier knows a person has moved, they run the name by the other carriers to see if anyone recognizes it. I've had stuff that was just plain wrong (an address I lived at 10 years ago, but with two digits transposed) delivered to me.
