I have a question for you guys. when you're pulled over by a LEO for a traffic stop and you show them your concealed license, what are they suppose to do?

My situation- Got pulled over, showed the Leo both my id's, and not a single word was said from his mouth. He just told me to sign on the ticket and left on his way. He started writing my ticket before he even approached me and finished it when he came to my side of the car.

Is there a certain protocol that they have to follow, by the way this was in El Paso county.

Supposed to do?

Nothing, though they can ask you if you are armed and dismarm you (if they feel they need to for safety reasons).

They can acknowledge you have a CHL or not. They can write you a ticket or not.


Basically, there is no requirement on them to react one way or another to a CHL. It just gives them a heads up, they can respond to it or not.

Nothing out of the ordinary here in my opinion.

The LEO did exactly what he should do, and that is not be alarmed or quesiton the fact you have a CHL and may be carrying.

I was stopped last year (last time was 28 years before ) and when I handed him my driver license, CHL and insurance, he handed the CHL back to me and just like your stop didn't ask about it and handed the CHL back to me. Unfortunately he took my DL and insurance and brought me back a ticket to sign. Can't says I didn't deserve it though, so did my defensive driving and paid the fine.

Sounds like a motorcycle cop if the ticket was half wrote before he got to you. Some LEOs that I have spoken to have the mindset that if they pull you over then they are going to write you. If I'm guilty then it's kind of hard to be mad.

They aren't supposed to do anything. Sounds like they did that just fine.

That's the perfect situation in my mind. You're not treated any differently than anyone else.

I thought once you produced your D.L. & CHL, all LEO's are required to immediately go En pointe, to then flow into a slow Adagio, from there into a Glissade and finally
perform a Fouetté rond de jambe en tournant, make a bow, smile and go on about their business.

At least, that's what I was taught.

To me that would be considered threatening behavior.

last time I got pulled over the cop told he didn't care about my chl. I could tell he was more interested in writing me a ticket and catching another then me having a gun.

Man in Black: I thought it fitting considering the rocky terrain.
Inigo: Naturally, you must suspect me to attack with Capa Ferro?
Man in Black: Naturally, but I find that Thibault cancels out Capa Ferro. Don’t you?
Inigo: Unless the enemy has studied his Agrippa… which I have.
