Chamber throat too long?!

Finally, I got my Hornady COL measuring tool.
On my Steyr SSG04 300WM, I got some very long chamber throat.
Bullet is 0.308, 208-gr A-max

I measured Base-to-Ogive: 3.920", 0.010" off the lands results with 3.910".
measured base to tip of the A-max COL was 3.635"

Now, spec COL for 300 WM is 3.340"

So, 3.635" - 3.340" =0.295" , that is almost 1/3 of an inch.

Is that possible with 208gr A-max?

Correct, as well as, the steyr has a magazine that can accommodate larger COAL than spec. I will be loading at Spec plus +0.010". I am now loading at 70gr of Alliant 4000MR. One day I would work some rds so to get the OWC (best weight of power that maximizes accuracy for given bullet)
