We discovered we have a guest who overnights on top one of our porch columns. Any guesses of what sort of bird this thing is?

Mrs. DocV says it looks like a wren.

Miniature Northern Spotted Owl. Shoot it before the United States Fish & Wildlife Service condemns your property and moves you into the street...

Having time on my hands this morning, , I'd say it's a guineafowl:

We used to have a few on our place growing up in Clay County eons ago. Fantastic burglar alarms. Made lots of noise for no reason. Hmmmm... now that I think about it, sounds like a liberal! :smilelol5:

Would that be an African or European swallow?

I need some sense of scale, and need to know how close are you to Arkansas? Could be one of those mythological ivory billed woodpeckers. You could sell tickets until the Feds seize your property.

Hard to judge body size, but it could be a Night Hawk or maybe a Whip-poor-will.
